Blind Contour & Watercolors
A new blind contour but this time of my professor. This went from a morning exercise to practicing with water colors, which is much more difficult than I thought it would be. I need more practice.
Magazine Composition: FIRST WEEK BACK
Layout from InStyle magazine
The magazine that i chose had a very simple layout. On one page it had the title and on the other was a fold out page. I chose this page because I thought it was different than most layouts because of the fold out page. This drawing represent my first week back at school.

- Going to class- was a very big part of coming back o school, I had to adjust to my new schedule.
- School supplies- I had to buy a ton of school supplies which ended up costing a lot of money.
- Early morning- over the break I slept in a lot, waking up early was sort of difficult and I had to get back into my routine.
- New studio space- everyone had to change desks in studio, I lost a really good desk but I am adjusting my my new space.
- Park & ride- coming back to school means driving and parking all the way in park & ride.
A Team Effort
This is one of my morning exercises. Since my class was asked to get new sketchbooks we needed to break them in. Everyone was intimidated my the fresh white pages. So, as a class we all chose objects to draw then played something similar to musical sketchbooks, where we would draw the objects for a certain amount of time then switch to somebody else's sketch book. This was hard because you did not want to "mess up" in somebody else's book, but it was an inteeresting experience.
IlluminatedObjects
The instructions of this project was to draw five object that meant a lot of us with this we had to illuminat them using only one colored pencil, we could also incorporate text to express what the objects mean to us. There were many important factors to this two page spread such as the composition, the text, the color, and the hierarchy of the objects.
- For the composition I chose to draw all the objects in the center, it was away of showing this is what is the most important thing on the page.
- For the text I put a quote for each object that I thought was appropriate for how I viewed it.
- I chose to highlight my objects with red because it is my favorite color. I colored one thing on each object bright red so that it would pop out and I also filled in the negative space surrounding the object with red to make the object stand out.
- There is no real hierarchy to my objects, I mainly drew then so that they would fill in the center of the page. I focused more on composition than hierarchy.
I was practicing scale figures. It turned out to be a lot of fun. The most difficult part was making them look proportioned. These pages in my sketchbook are helpful because I am able to go back and reference them if ever I need to. This was not a sketchbook assignment I took my own time to have fun with scale figures.
