CUBE

I enjoyed doing an orthographic drawing of my own project. For all of the sketches of my cube I was able to practive my shading and line weight which I learned in my other class and I was also able to use almost everything I've learned so far. I decided to do multiple sketches of my cube because if looked different from different sides and I thought it was important to show what I saw.

Blind Contour

We had to draw a blind contour of a person. This was really fun and hard because we were drawing each other so we were staring at each other and we kept laughing.

This was my first time doing blind contour. It was really fun seeing what I drew would turn out like. I like blind contour because you are not trying to be perfect, you can't make a mistake.

An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away

Drawing an apple with as much detail as possible.

Contour

It was fun to be able to use all the different types of drawing we learned and draw the same set of leaves with each. It was a good way for me to see what all we have learned and to practice. The best part of this assignment was going out with a group of IArc people and trying to find really cool leaves.

Cube it up!

We had to construct a 4x4x4 cube with interesting corners with bristol board held four inches off of a 8x8 base. I began making my cube, where I made slits down the diagonal corners and inverted every second tab. I got the idea to group the straws in the center from the idea of a tree house. I cut sections out of the a straw that was lined up with the corner of the cube and are the same size as the inverted sections on the cube. I used a piece of cardboard as a base and carved out squares to continue the pattern. I used the idea of continuity to make the corners more pronouced.

Container containing tampons.

My first idea for my tampon box had a basket make out of string around it. i decided to take it away because it didn't really need it, it "just" looked cool. I was using a lot of color in my first model but it was really busy and took away from the tampons and went away from my main idea why hide the tampons.

We had to construct a container using fabric, paper, and string for a special object. My special object happens to be tampons. I wanted it to be all about the tampons which led me to make the box black to bring out the yellow ad green of the tampon rappers. The inside of the box is lined with black felt. I used green and yellow string to make a cross section to hold and organized the tampons. I put green and yellow buttons around the box in order to cover up the knots from the strings and bring some color to the box.

The Foust Building

Drawing the Foust Building was difficult. It took a lot of time and patience to get all of the details and there were a lot of details. It was a challenge which i really enjoyed in the end.

Blind Contours

Doing blind contours was very fun. I really enjoyed seeing what my drawing turned out like. At first it was hard not to look at what i was drawing but the more I did it the easier it was.

Food!

Ten different food items drawn with detail. It was surprisingly very difficult to get all the details on the items to scale. i wasnt really able to get all the proportions right.

Joinery

The goal of the joinery project was to connect two natural artifacts with a linear material. For my natural artifacts, I chose a Black Eyed Suzan and a beetle. I chose the flower because of its bright orange colored petals. As I was joining the two artifacts I wanted the to look natural. Therefor I joined them to look like the beetle was eating the flower. In the process of working with the beetle I decided to name it Susan because of the type of flower.
